Navigating with the Keyboard
Keyboard navigation in the rung is done using the keys ,
,
,
. Using these keys, you can select the various elements within the rung and also define the insertion point for new elements.
As shown in the previous item, when inserting a contact element in the rung, the rung will look like this:
By pressing the navigation keys, you can change the insertion point of a new element, as shown in the following figures:
-
The
key indicates that the new element will be inserted before the selected element.
-
The
key indicates that the new element will be inserted parallel to the selected element.
- The
key indicates that the new element will be inserted in parallel below the selected element.
- The
key indicates that the new element will be inserted after the selected element.
With the insertion point already selected, pressing the same key in the corresponding direction will move the selection to the next element, as shown in the following figure:

For parallel elements, we navigate through each element individually using the keyboard, as shown in the following example:
In this situation, when we insert another element, we will be inserting it relative to the single selected element.
If it is necessary to insert an element parallel to a group of elements, we must use the G key, which will select the group of elements, allowing us to define the insertion point and insert it.
- Pressing the G key:
- Inserting a contact before the parallel:
With each press of the G key, we select the group immediately above the previously selected element/group and, at the end, return to the original element. Therefore, in some situations, more than one press of the G key is necessary. Using the G key, you can perform multiple insertion operations, as shown in the following examples:
- Insert an element parallel to the rung element group:
- Insert an element in series to the group formed by elements within a parallel:
