Establishing Communication - CAN/J1939

First, make sure the product supports CAN/J1939 communication with WPS software.

NOTE: WPS currently supports CAN adapters from the following manufacturers: KORLAN, IXXAT, and VECTOR.

Install Driver on Operating System

1) Verifying Installation

If you have a VECTOR adapter, make sure all drivers are installed:

If you have an IXXAT adapter, make sure all drivers are installed:

If you have a KORLAN adapter, make sure all drivers are installed:

NOTE: If the driver is not installed, download it from the manufacturer's website and install it on the operating system.

2) WPS Communication Configuration

In WPS, select a predefined device with CAN/J1939 support to enable the CAN option.

Select the CAN physical layer in the Properties > Communication Configuration window as follows:

Select the correct driver manufacturer, hardware adapter, and communication baud rate (bps).

Fill in the Channel, WPS CAN Address, and Device CAN Address fields with the correct settings for your specific product. If in doubt, consult the product manual.

NOTE: If the driver or hardware is not displayed in the communication window, ensure the adapter is connected to the computer and the correct driver is installed.

Click the Test button to test the connection.

If WPS can read the product information, communication is configured.
