How Do I Use This Documentation Without an Internet Connection?

You can install this documentation as an app on your computer or mobile device. After it is installed, the documentation can be opened from the desktop, Start menu, application list, or home screen, depending on the device.

Open the documentation online from time to time. When internet access is available, the app checks for newer content and updates the stored documentation automatically. If the browser asks you to reload the page to apply an update, reload it before going offline again.

note

The documentation must be opened online at least once before it can be used offline. Some pages, images, or files may only be available offline after they have been opened or downloaded while you were connected.

Install on a Computer

Use a modern browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

  1. Open the online documentation in the browser.
  2. Look for the install icon in the address bar. It may appear as a small computer icon, a download icon, or an option named Install.
  3. If the icon is not visible, open the browser menu and select Install app or Apps > Install this site as an app.
  4. Confirm the installation.
  5. Open the documentation from the shortcut created by the browser.

Install on an Android Phone or Tablet

  1. Open the online documentation in the browser.
  2. Open the browser menu.
  3. Select Install app or Add to Home screen.
  4. Confirm the installation.
  5. Open the documentation from the home screen.

Install on an iPhone or iPad

Use Safari for this procedure.

  1. Open the online documentation in Safari.
  2. Tap the share button.
  3. Select Add to Home Screen.
  4. Confirm the name and tap Add.
  5. Open the documentation from the home screen.

Keep the Offline Copy Updated

Connect the device to the internet and open the documentation periodically. The app checks for newer content when it is online.

If an update message appears, reload the documentation. After the update is applied, the newest available content is stored for offline use.

If Offline Access Does Not Work

Offline access depends on information stored by the browser on the same device where the documentation was installed.

If the documentation does not open without an internet connection, check the following items:

  • Open the documentation online before trying to use it offline.
  • Keep the browser that was used to install the documentation on the device.
  • Do not use private or incognito mode to install or open the offline documentation.
  • Do not clear the browser cache, site data, or stored files for the documentation site.
  • After installation, open the main documentation pages at least once while the device is online.

If offline access still does not work, reconnect the device to the internet, open the online documentation again, and repeat the installation procedure.
