What Is the USBIO Driver and Where Is It Installed?

The USBIO driver allows Windows to recognize supported WEG devices connected through USB. The driver is distributed with WEG software such as WPS, WLP, and SuperDrive G2.

In most cases, the driver is installed together with the software. You should not uninstall or reinstall the USBIO driver separately unless a support procedure specifically requires it or Windows does not recognize the device correctly.

Before Reinstalling the Driver

Before installing, uninstalling, or reinstalling the USBIO driver:

  1. Disconnect the equipment from the USB port.
  2. Confirm that your Windows user has permission to install programs and drivers.
  3. Close WPS, WLP, SuperDrive G2, and any related communication tool.
  4. Reconnect the equipment only after the driver procedure is complete.
caution

Do not reinstall the driver while the equipment is connected by USB. Disconnect the equipment before changing the driver installation.

Driver Installer Locations

The installer is available inside the installation folder of the corresponding WEG software. The exact folder can change according to the installed version.

SoftwareTypical Driver Folder
WPSC:\WEG\WPS <version>\wps\modules\DRIVER_USB
SuperDrive G2C:\WEG\SuperDrive G2 <version>\USB_Driver\USBIO
WLPC:\WEG\WLP <version>\DRIVER_USB\USBIO
note

The folders above are examples based on common installation paths. If your installed version is different, replace <version> with the version installed on the computer. For example, if WPS 3.20 is installed, use the folder WPS 3.20.

Important Note About Downloads

The USBIO driver installers are distributed with the WEG software listed above. They are not normally installed from a separate download package.

If the driver is missing from the software folder or if the installation fails, reinstall or repair the corresponding WEG software before attempting manual driver maintenance.
