What Should I Do When USB Communication Is Not Recognized?

Use this procedure when a WEG software application does not show the expected USB communication option or when the connected equipment is not recognized by Windows.

Check Windows Device Manager

  1. Disconnect the equipment from the USB port.
  2. Open Windows Device Manager.
  3. Connect the equipment to the USB port again.
  4. Check whether the category WEG USB Devices appears.
  5. Expand the category and verify that the connected device is listed without an error icon.

Interpret the Result

If WEG USB Devices appears and the device has no error icon, Windows detected the USB driver. In this case, check the communication settings in the WEG software and confirm that no other application is using the same device.

If WEG USB Devices does not appear, or if the device appears with an error icon, the USBIO driver may not be installed correctly. Reinstall or repair the driver using the installer included with WPS, WLP, or SuperDrive G2.

Reinstall the USBIO Driver

Before reinstalling the driver, disconnect the equipment from the USB port and close the WEG software.

The driver installer is usually available in the WPS installation folder:

C:\WEG\WPS <version>\wps\modules\DRIVER_USB

note

The folders above are examples based on common installation paths. If your installed version is different, replace <version> with the version installed on the computer. For example, if WPS 3.20 is installed, use the folder WPS 3.20.

For additional driver locations and precautions, see What Is the USBIO Driver and Where Is It Installed?.

After Reinstalling

  1. Restart the computer if the installer requests it.
  2. Connect the equipment again.
  3. Open Device Manager and confirm that WEG USB Devices appears.
  4. Open the WEG software and test the USB communication again.

Expected Result

Windows lists the equipment under WEG USB Devices, and the WEG software can use the USB communication option for the connected equipment.
